Online tutoring

Online tutor Bali: one-to-one online tutoring for Bali families

Online tutoring provides continuity when your family travels or lives outside our in-person areas. We discuss your child’s needs, confirm tutor availability and arrange lessons by video call.

When an online tutor in Bali earns the hour

This page is about delivery format, not a separate curriculum. An online tutor Bali placement uses the same matching process as in-villa work; only the room changes. Programme depth for IB, Cambridge IGCSE or A-Level still lives on those hubs. Here we explain when video sessions are the right tool.

Online tutoring earns its place in three situations. Your family travels, and the school term does not pause for the flight. You live outside our in-person areas, in parts of Bali we reach only by arrangement, or beyond the island entirely. Or the timetable simply works better: a session before school, or a second weekly hour that does not require anyone to drive.

How online sessions run

Sessions run by video call at a fixed time each week, just as in-person sessions do. The tutor shares a screen or a digital whiteboard, works through problems with your child, and sets short practice between sessions, marked and returned.

A quiet room, a charged laptop and a decent connection are all the setup required. For subjects with heavy working, such as mathematics and the sciences, we ask the student to photograph or upload their written work, so the tutor sees the thinking, not just the answer.

After each session you receive the same written note as in-person families: what was covered, how your child responded, and what to reinforce before next time. The four-weekly progress summary is unchanged too.

Ages and subjects that suit online

Online works well from about the lower secondary years upwards, when a student can manage a screen session independently: IGCSE, A-Level, IB Diploma, SAT and teen IELTS preparation all transfer cleanly to video call.

For primary-age children it depends on the child. Some eight-year-olds work happily on screen; others need a person at the table. We will tell you honestly which your child sounds like, and for the youngest children we generally recommend in-person sessions where geography allows. Early years play-based hours almost always belong in the room, not on a call.

Online and in-villa blended

Most families we work with online are not online-only. The common pattern is blended: in-villa sessions when everyone is home, online sessions for the weeks away, so the routine survives the school holidays, the visa run and the summer back home.

Because the tutor and the plan stay the same, the format can flex week by week. Tell us your travel dates and we schedule around them; continuity is the point.

Before the first session

We test the setup before any paid hour: the video link, the sound, and the way your child will share written work. Ten minutes of checking beforehand protects the whole first session.

For younger students, we ask that an adult is at home and reachable during sessions, just as we do for in-villa work. The tutor teaches; the household stays responsible for the child.

Rates and practicalities

Online sessions are billed on the published rate card: Standard IDR 500,000 per hour for children, Advanced IDR 800,000 per hour for companies, and Master IDR 1,000,000 per hour for specialist teaching, depending on the brief. Online delivery is billed at 10 percent below the in-person rate for the same tier. The exact rate is confirmed in writing before you book. See the pricing guide.

Cancel or reschedule free of charge with 24 or more hours’ notice. If the first session is not right, tell us within 48 hours and we refund it in full.

Next step

Tell us your child’s age and year group, the subjects, and where you are based. We reply within one working day. After the discovery call, we confirm tutor availability and the expected time for your written profile.

Frequently asked questions

How effective is online tutoring compared with in-person?

For most secondary students it works well when the tutor is matched properly and the routine is consistent. For younger children it depends on the child, and we will give you an honest view before you book.

Which platform do you use?

Common video-call tools your family already has. We confirm the setup before the first session and test it with you, so the first teaching minute is not spent on cables and cameras.

Can we mix online and in-villa sessions?

Many families mix formats. The same tutor and the same plan continue; only the format changes week by week.

Do you tutor students outside Bali?

Online sessions are available for families outside our in-person areas, including families who have left Bali and want to keep a tutor their child knows.

What if the connection fails mid-session?

We reschedule the lost time. Technical failure should never cost you a session you paid for.

What does online tutoring cost?

Online sessions use the same published rate card as in-villa work, billed at 10 percent below the in-person hourly rate for the same tier. Full detail is on the pricing guide.

How quickly can an online tutor start?

After the discovery call, we confirm tutor availability and the expected time for your written profile. Most first online sessions take place within a few days once the platform check is done.
