The week in Amed
Amed is a long way from our usual south-Bali rounds, roughly three hours from Denpasar on a good day. So tutoring here works differently. Most Amed families work with their tutor online, on a fixed weekly timetable, and we add in-person visits in planned blocks rather than ad hoc trips.
Because the drive is long, we plan it honestly. Online sessions run on weekday afternoons and mornings by agreement, Bali time. In-person weeks are arranged ahead: we will tell you which weeks a tutor is travelling east, and you can book a concentrated run of sessions then.
Who lives here
Families along the Amed coast tend to be in Bali for the long term: dive professionals, guesthouse owners, remote workers and sailors who have put down roots between Jemeluk and Tulamben. Children are usually homeschooled, enrolled in online school programmes, or boarding part of the week. Parents here plan carefully, because everything from shopping to schooling takes planning — a coastal rhythm that does not resemble Sanur’s short bicycle run.
Schools and commutes
There is no international school on this stretch of coast, and we will not pretend otherwise. Most students we support here follow a distance programme or an online school, and some families commute weekly towards Sanur, where their children attend schools such as Bali Island School or Dyatmika during the week.
School names provide curriculum and location context; they do not imply endorsement or partnership. Where your child follows an online programme, the tutor works from that programme’s own syllabus and assignment calendar.
How sessions run here
Online sessions run over a video call with a shared whiteboard, and the tutor sends a short note afterwards: what was covered, how your child responded, and what to reinforce before next time. A stable connection matters more than anything else; if your internet is unreliable, tell us and we will plan around it.
Visiting-tutor weeks bring the same tutor to your home for a block of days. They are arranged by agreement and confirmed in writing, including any travel cost, before you book. North and East Bali, including Amed, are served online or in person by arrangement; this is our honest coverage model, not a limitation we hide in the small print.

East-coast requests concentrate on three things: keeping homeschooled children level with a recognised curriculum, mathematics and English for online-school students, and IGCSE or IB preparation for teenagers who will sit exams at a centre further south.

Can you prepare a teenager sitting exams further south?

What does a private tutor in Amed cost?
The standard rate card applies: Standard IDR 500,000 per hour for children, Advanced IDR 800,000 per hour for companies, and Master IDR 1,000,000 per hour for specialist teaching, confirmed in writing before the first session.
