Our Tutors in Bali
Meet our qualified private tutors in Bali. Background-checked, curriculum-trained, child-protection certified. IB, Cambridge, primary & SEN specialists.
Who Our Tutors Are
Our tutors are not random freelancers. They are qualified educators who have been carefully selected, background-checked, and trained. We do not accept every applicant. We look for four things: teaching ability, curriculum knowledge, professionalism, and personality.
Teaching ability: Every tutor has classroom or tutoring experience. They know how to explain a concept, check for understanding, adapt their approach, and keep a child engaged. They are not just subject experts — they are teachers.
Curriculum knowledge: Our tutors know the curricula they teach. An IB tutor has taught or tutored IB. An IGCSE tutor has prepared students for Cambridge exams. A primary tutor knows phonics, numeracy, and early-years development. We do not send generalists to teach specialist subjects.
Professionalism: Every tutor completes a background check, provides references, and undergoes child protection training. They arrive on time, dress appropriately, communicate clearly, and respect your home. They are professionals, not university students looking for pocket money.
Personality: We match tutors to children based on personality as well as expertise. A shy child needs a gentle, patient tutor. An energetic child needs a tutor who can keep up. A teenager needs a tutor who treats them with respect. We take the time to match properly.
How We Select Tutors
Application: Tutors apply with their CV, qualifications, and teaching experience. We only accept applications from qualified teachers or experienced tutors.
Interview: We interview every applicant in person or via video call. We assess their teaching ability, communication skills, and professionalism. We ask them to explain a concept as if teaching a child.
Background check: We verify identity, qualifications, and references. We conduct a criminal background check (DBS or equivalent). We check employment history and contact previous employers.
Child protection training: Every tutor completes a child protection and safeguarding course. They learn about professional boundaries, signs of abuse, and reporting procedures. They sign a code of conduct.
Trial period: New tutors work with a senior tutor for their first few sessions. We observe, provide feedback, and decide if they meet our standards. Not every tutor passes.
Ongoing training: We provide ongoing training in curriculum updates, teaching strategies, and SEN awareness. We share resources, best practices, and feedback from parents.
Our Tutor Specialisations
IB specialists: Tutors with direct IB teaching or tutoring experience. They understand the IB learner profile, the assessment criteria, and the demands of the Diploma. They can support IAs, TOK, and the Extended Essay. Learn more about our IB tutors in Bali.
Cambridge IGCSE specialists: Tutors who have prepared students for Cambridge exams. They know the syllabus, the past papers, and the mark schemes. They can teach both Core and Extended papers.
Primary specialists: Tutors with early-years and primary teaching experience. They know phonics, numeracy, and the developmental stages of childhood. They can make learning fun and engaging. See our primary school tutors in Bali.
SEN specialists: Tutors with experience and training in ADHD, dyslexia, autism, and other learning differences. They use multi-sensory, structured, and individualised approaches. We also offer dedicated ADHD support in Bali and dyslexia support in Bali.
Subject specialists: Tutors with deep expertise in specific subjects: maths, English, science, languages, history, geography, and more. They know their subject inside out.
Language specialists: Tutors who can teach in English, Indonesian, French, German, Mandarin, and other languages. They can provide bilingual or immersion tutoring.
Our Commitment to Safety
Child protection: Every tutor is trained in safeguarding and signs a code of conduct. We follow UK and international child protection standards.
Professional boundaries: Tutors do not contact children outside tutoring sessions. They do not accept friend requests on social media. They do not give personal contact details to children. All communication goes through parents.
Villa safety: Tutors are instructed to respect your home, your family, and your privacy. They do not enter private areas. They do not take photos without permission. They do not share information about your family.
Reporting: If a tutor observes anything that concerns them about a child's welfare, they report it to us immediately. We then contact the parent and, if necessary, the relevant authorities.
FAQ
How do you vet your tutors?
We interview, background-check, reference-check, and train every tutor. New tutors also complete a trial period with observation and feedback.
Can I meet the tutor before the first session?
Yes. We send you the tutor's profile before the first session. You can also arrange a brief video call or meeting before the session starts.
What if my child does not get on with the tutor?
We will find another tutor at no extra cost. Tutor matching is important, and we want every child to have a tutor they are comfortable with.
Do your tutors have teaching qualifications?
Most of our tutors are qualified teachers or have equivalent teaching experience. Some are subject specialists with tutoring experience rather than formal teaching qualifications. We verify all qualifications before hiring.
Can I request a male or female tutor?
Yes. We can accommodate preferences for male or female tutors. We also consider cultural preferences and language preferences.
Do your tutors speak Indonesian?
Yes. Many of our tutors are bilingual in English and Indonesian. Some also speak French, German, Mandarin, and other languages.
How We Match Tutors to Families
When you contact us, we do not simply assign the next available tutor. We match deliberately. First, we ask about your child: age, school, curriculum, subjects, goals, and any learning differences or personality traits we should know. Then we review our tutor roster for experience, subject knowledge, teaching style, and availability.
We also consider practical details. A family in Canggu may need a tutor comfortable with scooter travel along busy villa roads. A family in Sanur may want a tutor who can explain concepts in Bahasa Indonesia as well as English. A family preparing for IB exams may need a tutor with specific Diploma experience rather than general secondary knowledge.
Once we identify a suitable tutor, we send you a profile with their qualifications, experience, and specialisations. You can request a brief video call before the first lesson. After the session, we follow up to check that the match works. If adjustments are needed, we make them quickly. Most families stay with the same tutor long-term because the match is right from the start.
This process is how our team delivers consistent results. You can read more about our student assessment process, review our pricing guide, or contact us to request tutor profiles.
