Teaching standards handbook

The standards every educator works to, published so parents know what to expect when a tutor teaches their child at home.

Tutor handbook materials and session notes on a desk.

Before the first session

Every educator reads the student brief carefully before meeting a family: age and year group, school or homeschool arrangement, curriculum, current priorities and any learning-support notes. The first session is for understanding the student, not for showing off a method.

Educators arrive on time, prepared, with materials suited to the student’s level. If travel or timing changes, the family hears about it before the session, not after.

During sessions

Teaching is one to one and responsive. The educator explains, checks understanding, adjusts the pace and leaves the student knowing what was covered and what comes next. Sessions end with a short summary for the student and, for younger children, a word with the parent.

Devices and materials are used purposefully. Phones stay away unless they serve the lesson.

Communication with parents

Parents receive a note after each session and a fuller progress summary every four weeks: what was covered, what is improving and what needs attention. Honest news matters more than reassuring news. If progress stalls, the educator says so and proposes a change.

Questions between sessions are welcome. We reply within one working day.

Safeguarding and conduct

All educators follow our child protection policy: professional boundaries at all times, sessions in open family spaces, and clear reporting routes if anything concerns an educator, a parent or a student.

Educators never diagnose learning difficulties or medical conditions. When a student might benefit from a clinical assessment, the educator tells the family and suggests the right kind of professional.

Progress and records

Each student has a written plan with named goals. Educators review progress against those goals with the family at agreed points, and the plan changes when the student’s needs change. Records are kept accurately and shared openly with parents.

Frequently asked questions

Can parents read this handbook?

It is published openly so families know the standards behind every session.

Do educators follow a fixed curriculum?

The standards are fixed; the teaching follows the student’s school curriculum, goals and pace.

What if a session falls short of these standards?

Tell us. We reply within one working day, and the first session is covered by our 48-hour refund policy.

Where can I see tutoring options for my child?

Start with the recommended services overview or the SEN tutoring hub if learning support is the main need.

How are tutors matched to families?

A coordinator matches your child to a vetted tutor from our team. The roster shows who we are; it is not an open catalogue to pick from.

What do sessions cost?

Sessions follow the published rate card: Standard IDR 500,000 per hour for children, Advanced IDR 800,000 per hour for companies, and Master IDR 1,000,000 per hour for specialist teaching. See the pricing guide.
