What writing tutoring covers
Writing is the skill schools assume and the skill least often taught directly. We teach it as craft: handwriting and sentence construction in the primary years; planning and paragraphing in lower secondary; creative writing for stories, descriptions and poems; timed exam answers to the mark scheme; and academic writing for IGCSE, A-Level and IB — thesis, evidence, citation and register.
An IB English essay, an IGCSE history answer and a science report are three different kinds of writing with three different sets of rules. Tutoring names those differences. For Diploma students we also coach the skills around the extended essay — focused question, structure, citation, revision — while the school remains the supervisor of record.

How writing sessions run
Writing improves through marked drafts, not through talk about writing. Your child writes in nearly every session. The tutor marks closely: specific comments, one or two priorities at a time, never a page drowned in red. Primary sessions build fluency and the daily habit of rereading. Lower secondary shifts to structure — plan, draft, edit — because editing is where writing actually improves.
Creative work is not a soft option. The student who can hold a reader for two pages of story usually holds an examiner for an essay, because control of pace, detail and voice is the same skill. Online sessions suit older students reviewing drafts particularly well.
Who writing tutoring suits
Children aged 4 to 17 who have something to say and need the craft to say it on paper: the six-year-old forming first sentences, the Year 8 student whose paragraphs never organise, the IB student facing coursework deadlines and a timed essay in the same month.
It also suits children whose ideas outrun their English — often EAL learners who think clearly and write haltingly. The first diagnostic is usually a short piece on a topic the child chooses, talked through with the tutor, then goals you can check: not “write better essays”, but “plan and write a structured five-paragraph essay, unaided, by half-term”.
Academic integrity
We teach writing; we do not write. Tutors never produce essays, coursework or any part of them for a student. Drafts are your child’s own work, always. If you are looking for a service that writes essays for students, we are not it.
Where we draw the line: The student writes; the tutor plans, models, marks and coaches. Coursework and extended essays remain the student’s own work under the school’s rules.

School writing tutoring sits on the Standard rate of IDR 500,000 per hour for children. Specialist briefs may sit at Master (IDR 1,000,000). Your written quote confirms the rate, travel arrangements and any additional costs before booking.

Can you help with the IB extended essay?
We coach skills around it: question choice, structure, citation and revision. The school remains the supervisor of record; the work is always your child’s own. We never write any part of it.
My child has great ideas but messy writing. Where do you start?
Usually with planning. Most messy writing is unplanned writing. We teach a short planning routine first, then paragraphing, then sentence control, marking drafts at each step.
Do you teach creative writing as well as essays?
Stories, descriptions and poems run at every stage. Creative work builds the control of pace, detail and voice that examiners reward in essays too.
Can sessions be online?
Online suits writing well because drafts and marked feedback move easily between tutor and student, billed at 10 percent below the in-person rate.
Do you write essays for students?
No. The student writes; the tutor plans, models, marks and coaches. Coursework remains the student’s own work under school rules.
What if the tutor is not the right fit?
Tell us. We change the plan or the tutor. If the first session is not right, tell us within 48 hours and we refund that session in full — refund policy.
