What exam preparation in Bali involves
Exam preparation is not more revision. It is a plan that works backwards from a date: what must be learned, what must be practised, and what must be rehearsed so the day itself feels familiar.
That is how this hub differs from our IB, Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level pages. Those pages own year-round syllabus teaching for a named programme. This page owns the final stretch: timed papers, technique and a calendar tied to a specific series.
Three things decide most exam results. Knowledge of the syllabus. Technique: how marks are earned on that particular paper, in that particular time. And state of mind: a calm student with a plan outperforms an anxious student with the same knowledge. Our preparation addresses all three, in that order.
Exams we prepare students for
IGCSE: Core and Extended tiers, with past-paper practice timed to the June or November Cambridge series. IB Diploma: subject papers in the May or November sessions, alongside coursework calendars. A-Level: board-specific preparation for CIE, Edexcel and AQA syllabuses.
SAT: the US university admissions test, with preparation focused on the digital format’s reading, writing and maths sections. Teen IELTS: for school-age students who need the English language qualification for further study. We do not run adult IELTS or TOEFL courses, and we do not prepare students for Indonesian national examinations such as UTBK or SNBT.
The exam preparation process
We start with an honest baseline: a timed past paper or, where you can share them, recent mock results and marked scripts. From that we write a plan with dates: the topics to close, the papers to practise, and the checkpoints where we review progress with you.
Sessions then alternate between teaching and rehearsal. Teaching closes the gaps the baseline found. Rehearsal makes the exam itself routine: the paper’s layout, the timing per section, the habit of checking. Where a formal baseline would help, our student assessment service provides a written starting point, quoted separately before booking.
Exam technique specifics
Technique is unglamorous and worth marks. Students learn to read the whole paper before writing, to divide minutes by marks, and to answer the question set rather than the question hoped for. Command words matter: “describe”, “explain” and “evaluate” are three different tasks with three different mark schemes.
We mark practice work against the real mark schemes, and students keep an error log between sessions. A mistake recorded once, with the reason written beside it, rarely happens twice.
Stress and mindset
Exam nerves are normal, and preparation is the cure most of the time: familiarity removes fear. We also teach practical habits, sleep in exam week, a settled morning routine, and a plan for the stuck question, so a difficult moment in the hall does not become a lost paper.
We are tutors, not clinicians. If exam anxiety is affecting your child’s daily life beyond revision season, we will say so honestly and suggest you speak with your child’s school counsellor or a qualified professional.
Intensive courses and holiday blocks
School holidays are the natural home of exam preparation: no school day to compete with, and space for the longer timed practices a weekday evening cannot hold. We run intensive blocks in the breaks before the June and November series, usually one or two sessions a day across a week or two.
Intensives suit students close to an exam with specific gaps to close. They are not a substitute for a term of steady work, and where steady work is what your child needs, we will recommend the relevant curriculum hub instead.
Rates
Exam preparation is billed on the published rate card: Standard IDR 500,000 per hour for children, Advanced IDR 800,000 per hour for companies, and Master IDR 1,000,000 per hour for specialist teaching, depending on the exam and the brief. How far before the exam should we start?
A term of weekly sessions is ideal. If the exam is weeks away, tell us the date and we will say plainly what can and cannot be achieved in the time left.
Do you guarantee a grade?
We prepare the knowledge, the technique and the routine thoroughly. The grade is earned by your child on the day. Be cautious of anyone who promises otherwise.
How do you prepare students for the SAT?
Entrance-test support is available subject to current tutor availability. Tell us the test date and any recent practice scores when you enquire.
Which Cambridge IGCSE and IB Diploma exams do you cover?
Most Bali exam briefs are Cambridge IGCSE or IB Diploma subject papers. Tell us the syllabus code, tier or level, and the June or November series when you enquire. Year-round teaching lives on the IGCSE and IB hubs.
Do you offer adult IELTS courses?
Our IELTS support is for school-age students working towards further study. Adult language courses are outside our service.
What does exam preparation in Bali cost?
Sessions follow the published tiers on the pricing guide. There is no minimum booking, and you can stop after any session.
What if the first session is not right?
Tell us within 48 hours and we refund that session in full. After that, you can stop after any session; there is no long-term contract.
