This page is for parents of post-16 students taking A-Levels, usually between the ages of 16 and 18, at a Bali international school, through an online school, or as private candidates. Most students take three or four subjects, and each one is studied in real depth over two years.

A-Levels are set by exam boards, and the same subject differs between them. Students in Bali most commonly sit Cambridge International (CIE) papers; Edexcel International and AQA also appear. Tell us the board and the syllabus code, because “A-Level chemistry” is three different courses on three different boards.
A note on structure, because the terminology confuses. Cambridge International AS and A Levels keep a staged model: the AS Level, graded A to E with no A*, can stand alone or count as the first half of the full A Level, which is graded A* to E. Reformed A-Levels in England work differently: they are linear, examined at the end of two years, and an AS result no longer counts towards the final grade. We teach to whichever model your child is actually sitting.
Subject availability varies with our current team, so we confirm coverage before proposing anyone. The subjects families ask for most are mathematics, physics and chemistry.
Sessions take place at your home or villa, or online, and usually run weekly per subject. The tutor works from the exact specification: the topics in your child’s module order, the assessment objectives the board publishes, and the mark schemes its examiners use.
A-Level marking rewards precision. A student can understand a topic and still lose marks to the difference between “state” and “explain”, or to missing the reasoning steps a mark scheme expects. Timed past-paper practice, marked against the real schemes, sits at the centre of the work.
On the international staged model, the AS year and the A2 year each carry weight, so the calendar matters from the start. We plan the two years together: which papers sit in which series, where the heavy modules fall, and how much revision space the final term realistically holds.
For students already partway through, we start with an honest baseline: recent mocks or a timed paper, reviewed against the specification, so the remaining time is spent where it earns the most.
Cambridge International runs two exam series each year, in June and November. June series exams are held in May and June with results in August; the November series runs in October and November with results in mid-January. Other boards follow their own calendars, which your school or exams officer will confirm.
We plan backwards from the series your child is sitting. A student sitting in November needs a different summer from a student sitting in June, and the difference is decided months earlier.
We do not advise on university admissions strategy, personal statements or applications; that is a counselling service, and it is not ours. We do not complete or correct coursework into shape: any submitted work is the student’s own, under the board’s academic integrity rules. And we do not promise grades, because honest people cannot.

A-Level tutoring usually sits at the Advanced or Master tier: Standard IDR 500,000, Advanced IDR 800,000 or Master IDR 1,000,000 per hour, in Indonesian rupiah, depending on the subject and the brief. The exact rate is confirmed in writing before the first session, and there is no minimum booking.
