Physics Tutor in Bali

Private physics tutors in Bali for IGCSE, IB, A-Level, and secondary students. Mechanics, electricity, waves, thermodynamics. In-villa or online.

Who This Service Is For

We tutor students who are struggling with physics, preparing for exams, or simply want to deepen their understanding. The students we work with usually fall into one of these groups:

  • IB Diploma students who need support with HL or SL physics, including option topics and the Internal Assessment.
  • IGCSE students who need to understand mechanics, electricity, waves, or thermodynamics before their exams.
  • A-Level students who are studying physics at advanced level and need help with complex topics and exam technique.
  • Secondary students who are struggling with physics at school and need patient, one-to-one support to catch up.
  • Students preparing for university entrance who need physics for engineering, medicine, or science courses.
  • Adult learners who want to understand physics for personal interest or professional development.

Common Physics Tutoring Needs in Bali

  1. Mechanics — forces, motion, Newton's laws, energy, momentum, circular motion. The most common request for all syllabi.
  2. Electricity and magnetism — circuits, electric fields, magnetic fields, electromagnetic induction. A topic many students find abstract and difficult.
  3. Waves and optics — wave properties, reflection, refraction, interference, diffraction. Important for both IGCSE and IB.
  4. Thermodynamics — temperature, heat transfer, kinetic theory, gas laws. Especially relevant for IB HL and A-Level.
  5. Quantum and nuclear physics — atomic structure, radioactivity, nuclear reactions. Often taught quickly at school and needs deeper explanation.
  6. Internal Assessment (IA) support — for IB students who need help designing, conducting, and writing their physics IA.
  7. Exam technique — past paper practice, mark scheme analysis, time management, and how to structure answers for maximum marks.

How It Works

Free assessment (optional): We start with a 45-60 minute student assessment where the tutor meets your child, reviews their current level, and identifies the specific topics that need attention. This is not a test. It is a conversation starter.

Weekly or intensive sessions: Most students have one or two sessions per week. Some students prefer intensive blocks before exams. We are flexible.

In your villa or online: We come to your villa in Canggu, Ubud, Sanur, Seminyak, or surrounding areas. We also offer online tutoring via Zoom with digital whiteboards and screen sharing.

Tutor matching: We match your child with a tutor who has physics teaching experience and knowledge of the specific syllabus they are studying. IB physics tutors are different from IGCSE physics tutors. We know the difference.

Progress tracking: After every session, the tutor sends a brief update: what was covered, what the student understood, what needs more work, and what the next session will focus on. Every four weeks, you receive a formal progress report.

Syllabi We Cover

  • IB Physics (HL and SL): We cover all core topics and option topics. We can also help with the Internal Assessment and Extended Essay.
  • Cambridge IGCSE Physics: We cover all topics in the 0625 syllabus, including Core and Extended papers. We know the past papers and mark schemes.
  • A-Level Physics: We cover all major exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) at AS and A2 level. We can help with practical skills and exam technique.
  • Australian Curriculum: We cover physics at Year 10, 11, and 12 levels, including VCE, HSC, and WACE.
  • Indonesian National Curriculum: We cover physics at SMP and SMA levels (Fisika).
  • University physics: We can support first-year university physics courses, including calculus-based physics.

What Makes Our Physics Tutoring Different

  • Subject expertise: Our physics tutors are not generalists. They are physics specialists with teaching experience and deep subject knowledge.
  • Conceptual understanding: We do not just teach formulas. We teach the underlying concepts so students can solve problems they have never seen before.
  • Exam technique: We teach students how to read exam questions, identify what is being asked, structure their answers, and manage their time. We analyse past papers and mark schemes.
  • Real-world connections: We connect physics to the real world: surfing and waves, electricity in Bali's power grid, the physics of Balinese temples and architecture. This makes the subject relevant and memorable.
  • Patience and encouragement: Physics is hard. Many students are intimidated by it. Our tutors are patient, encouraging, and skilled at breaking complex topics into manageable steps.

FAQ

Can the tutor help with my physics IA?

Yes. Our IB physics tutors can help with every stage of the IA: choosing a topic, designing the experiment, collecting data, analysing results, and writing the report. We do not write the IA for the student — we guide them through the process.

Do you provide past papers?

Yes. We have access to past papers and mark schemes for IGCSE, IB, A-Level, and Australian exams. We use these in sessions to build exam technique and confidence.

Can you help with university physics?

Yes. We can support first-year university physics courses. For more advanced university physics, we will assess whether our tutors have the required expertise before accepting the booking.

What if my child is struggling with the maths in physics?

Many physics difficulties are actually maths difficulties. Our tutors can identify whether the problem is physics understanding or maths skills, and address both. We can also combine physics tutoring with maths tutoring.

Can you tutor online?

Yes. We offer online physics tutoring via Zoom with digital whiteboards and screen sharing. This is ideal for students who need specialist physics support but live outside our in-person areas.

Teaching Methods That Work for Physics

Our physics tutoring is built around how students actually learn. We begin each topic with a short diagnostic conversation to find out what the student understands and where the gaps are. The tutor then introduces concepts in small steps, using worked examples before asking the student to solve problems independently.

We use diagrams, animations, simulations, and physical models to make abstract ideas concrete. A student studying electromagnetic induction, for example, might explore a simple motor model or use a simulation to see magnetic flux change in real time.

Once a concept is secure, we move to exam-style questions. The tutor models how to read the question, identify the principle, set out the working, and check the answer. For structured revision before exams, we also offer focused exam preparation in Bali.

Because physics and mathematics are closely linked, we often integrate maths support into physics sessions. If a student struggles with equations, vectors, or graphs, we address those skills directly. We also offer dedicated maths tutoring in Bali for more intensive support.

Physics Tutoring for Bali's International School Students

Bali has a growing community of international students, many attending Green School, Canggu Community School, Bali Island School, Dyatmika, or Sanur Independent School. These schools follow IGCSE, IB, or mixed curricula, so students often move between syllabi when their families relocate.

Our tutors understand the transition challenges: different terminology, notation, and pacing. We help students map what they already know onto the new syllabus and fill gaps quickly.

Sessions take place in your villa across Canggu, Ubud, Seminyak, Sanur, Umalas, Berawa, or nearby. This removes travel time and creates a focused environment. If your family is travelling, we can switch to online sessions temporarily so continuity is not lost.

For students following IB or Cambridge IGCSE programmes, we match a tutor with direct syllabus experience. This saves time and means the tutor can focus on the exact question styles and assessment criteria your child will face.
