Practical categories families ask us about most: health, relocation, schools and activities. Each section explains what to look for, without paid placements.
A note before the list
Families new to Bali ask us the same practical questions: which clinic, which agent, which school, which activities. This page collects the categories we are asked about and explains how we think about each one.
Two ground rules keep this page honest. Nothing here is a paid placement: no business can buy a listing, and we disclose any referral relationship if one ever exists. And we name a specific business only with its consent and current details on file, so where we are not certain, we describe what to look for rather than print a name that may have changed.
Health and wellbeing services
The questions we hear most concern paediatricians, dentists, and English-speaking counsellors or child psychologists. Bali has capable providers in each, concentrated around Denpasar, Sanur and the south, and the right choice depends on your area, your insurance and the language your child is comfortable in.
One distinction matters to us professionally. If your child’s needs look clinical rather than educational, a qualified clinician is the right first call, not a tutor. We are tutors, not clinicians: we do not diagnose or treat, and tutoring never replaces clinical assessment or therapy. Message us and we will say honestly which side of that line your situation appears to sit on.
Relocation and villa life
Visa agents, villa rentals, drivers, household help: the logistics of landing well. Our advice is consistent. Use providers who put terms in writing, ask other families in your school community who they use, and be cautious of anyone whose price is only available after you commit.
It is the same standard we hold ourselves to: written terms, confirmed before you pay. Our own rates sit on a public rate card for exactly this reason.
Schools and education consultants
Choosing a school is the biggest education decision a relocating family makes, and it deserves more than a recommendation in a WhatsApp group. We keep two resources current: a comparison of Bali’s international schools and a broader education guide for families planning the move.
If you would like a view on how a specific school’s curriculum will sit with your child, ask us. We tutor students from many of Bali’s international schools, and we will tell you plainly what we see. School names provide context and do not imply endorsement or partnership.
Activities and enrichment
Surf lessons, music, riding, language classes, sport: Bali is rich in activities for children, and quality varies as widely as price. The questions worth asking any provider are the same ones worth asking us. Who exactly will teach my child? What checks have they passed? What does a session look like, and how will I know how it went?
Where an activity touches schoolwork, such as chess coaching or coding, we may be able to help directly; otherwise we will point you toward what to look for.
How we choose recommendations
Slowly. A service earns a place on this page when families we work with have used it well over time, when the provider agrees to be listed, and when we can verify that the details are current. We review listings regularly and remove any that no longer meet the standard.
