Private Tutoring Bali help centre: FAQs for families
Straight answers to the questions families ask most: booking, pricing, tutor matching, curricula, safety, cancellations and SEN support.
Booking your first tutor session
- How do I start? Send four lines on WhatsApp: your child’s age and year group, school, curriculum and area. We reply within one working day.
- What happens after I enquire? A complimentary 30-minute discovery call, then a written brief, then a tutor profile. After the discovery call, we confirm tutor availability and the expected time for your written profile.
- How soon can the first session happen? After the discovery call, we confirm tutor availability and when you can expect a written profile. We agree on the start date once you have reviewed the profile and confirmed the arrangements.
- What if the first session is not right? Tell us within 48 hours and we refund that session in full, then change the plan or the tutor.
- Can we meet the tutor before committing? You receive the tutor’s written profile before any paid session, and you approve the person before a booking is made.
Pricing, packages and payment
- What does tutoring cost? One rate card in rupiah: Standard IDR 500,000 per hour for children, Advanced IDR 800,000 per hour for companies, and Master IDR 1,000,000 per hour for specialist teaching, confirmed in writing before the first session.
- Are there package discounts? Prepaid blocks receive 5 percent off 10 sessions, 10 percent off 20 and 15 percent off 40. Packages last 12 months and can be shared between siblings.
- Is there a minimum booking? No. No minimum booking and no long-term contract; you can stop after any session.
- How do I pay? Per session or monthly in arrears, by bank transfer or major credit card. Invoices are due within seven days; there is no deposit.
- Is travel extra? Your written quote confirms whether travel is included and any additional cost for your exact address before booking.
- Do online sessions cost less? Yes: 10 percent below the in-person rate, and a 10 percent discount applies for each additional sibling.
Tutor matching, curricula and subjects
- How do you choose our tutor? We write a brief for your child, then match on subject knowledge, curriculum experience, personality and schedule.
- Which curricula do you support? IB (PYP, MYP and Diploma), Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level, plus UK, US and Australian programmes. Other curricula, including French, German, Montessori and national-plus programmes, are available on request, subject to tutor availability.
- Which subjects do you tutor? We currently tutor maths, English, sciences, coding, chess, reading and writing, plus exam preparation. Subject availability is confirmed at enquiry.
- Do you tutor homeschooled children? Yes, full time or alongside school, with a structured programme planned with parents each term.
- Can you help if my child is falling behind? Often, yes. If the picture is unclear, a paid student assessment with a written report is a sensible first step.
In-villa, online and school-based tutoring
- Where do sessions take place? At your home, villa or hotel, or online. Where a school agrees, we also provide shadow teachers: educators who support one child inside the classroom during the school day.
- Which areas do you cover in person? South and Central Bali, including Canggu, Seminyak, Ubud, Sanur and Denpasar, with travel arrangements confirmed in writing. North and East Bali, including Lovina and Amed, are served online, or in person by arrangement.
- Can sessions continue when we travel? Yes. Online sessions keep the routine going for weeks when your family is away from Bali.
Safeguarding and SEN support
- How are tutors checked? We verify identity, qualifications and references, conduct an interview and demonstration lesson, and record any SKCK Indonesian police clearance obtained. Tutors also sign a conduct declaration and receive a child-protection briefing.
- Is there a safeguarding policy? Yes. We follow a written child-safeguarding policy covering in-home sessions, supervision and conduct.
- Do you support children with special educational needs (SEN)? Yes. Our learning-support tutors work with children with ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia and autism, teaching study strategies, structure and confidence.
- Is SEN tutoring a therapy? No. We are tutors, not clinicians: we do not diagnose or treat, and tutoring never replaces clinical assessment or therapy.
Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds
- How do I cancel or reschedule? Cancel or reschedule free of charge with 24 or more hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.
- What is the first-session refund? If the first session is not right, tell us within 48 hours and we refund that session in full.
- How fast are refunds paid? Approved refunds are processed within three to five business days to the original payment method.
- What about unused package sessions? Unused sessions are refundable within 30 days of purchase, less a 10 percent administration fee.

How quickly do you reply to enquiries?
We reply within one working day. Messages are answered seven days a week, 07:00 to 21:00 Bali time.
Is the discovery call really without charge?
Every engagement starts with a complimentary 30-minute discovery call on WhatsApp. Formal written assessments are priced separately and quoted before booking. See student assessment for those fees.
Do you guarantee results?
We do not guarantee outcomes, and we would be wary of anyone who does. We set realistic, short-term goals in writing, report progress after every session and every four weeks, and change the plan or the tutor if progress stalls.
What ages do you tutor?
We tutor children aged 4 to 17, from the first years of school through to the final years of the IB Diploma and A-Levels.
How do cancellations and first-session refunds work?
Cancel or reschedule free of charge with 24 or more hours’ notice; shorter notice is charged in full. If the first session is not right, tell us within 48 hours for a full refund of that session. Detail sits in the refund policy.

How are tutors checked for safeguarding?
Every tutor completes reference verification, a written record of any police clearance obtained, and an observed demonstration lesson before working with families. Conduct standards are in our child protection policy; the check sequence is on background checks.
