Planning before you land

School calendars, curricula and waiting lists in Bali do not always line up with the country you are leaving, and a few weeks of early planning prevents a term of avoidable disruption.

School research and shortlisting
Choosing a school is the decision everything else hangs on. We help you compare Bali’s international schools on the factors that matter for your children: curriculum, year-group availability, location against where you plan to live, and the style of the school.
Our role is advisory. We share what we know from teaching students across Bali’s schools, and we help you frame the right questions for admissions teams. We are not an admissions broker: we do not hold places, we do not take commissions from schools, and the application is always yours to make.
Curriculum continuity and gap mapping
A change of school is also usually a change of curriculum, and each pairing has its own known gaps. A child leaving a UK primary school for an IB Primary Years Programme classroom meets a different approach to maths and inquiry. A student moving from an Australian school into Cambridge IGCSE meets new assessment language. None of these gaps reflect ability; they reflect sequence.
Before tutoring starts, we map your child’s current position in their old curriculum against the syllabus they are joining. The map names the specific topics to bridge, so the first weeks of tutoring close real gaps rather than repeat work your child has already done.
The aim is a first term that starts level, not behind: your child walks into the new classroom having already met the vocabulary, notation and expectations that would otherwise have been surprises.
Arrival support and a soft landing
The first month in a new country runs on logistics. Tutoring slots are arranged around your settling-in: sessions at your home, villa or hotel, at times that survive jet lag, house hunting and school orientation. If your family’s first weeks are spent in temporary accommodation, sessions come to wherever you are.
Early sessions focus on routine and confidence as much as content: the same tutor, the same hour, the same table, week after week. Moving countries unsettles schoolwork even for capable children, and predictability is the fastest antidote we know. Most families tell us the first ordinary week, with sessions in it, is when Bali starts to feel like home.
Tutor placement and matching
We match tutors to children by subject, curriculum knowledge, personality and schedule. For relocating families the personality fit matters even more than usual: your child has left friends, a school and a country, and the tutor is often one of the first steady adults in the new life.
You receive the tutor’s written profile before the first paid session, and goals are agreed in writing. After each session you receive a short note, and a fuller progress summary arrives every four weeks. If the match is not right, we change the plan or the tutor, and the first session is refunded in full if you tell us within 48 hours that it was not right.
Shadow teachers and SEN transitions
If your child has special educational needs (SEN), a move needs extra care: support arrangements rarely transfer automatically, and a new school may assess needs differently. We help you carry the existing picture into the new setting, so support does not lapse during the transition term.
Where a school agrees, we provide shadow teachers: educators who support one child inside the classroom during the school day. We are tutors, not clinicians; we do not diagnose or treat, and tutoring complements, never replaces, clinical assessment or therapy.
Ongoing academic monitoring
Settling in is a term’s work, not a week’s. Once the transition sessions end, many families keep a lighter weekly session through the first term, so a professional eye stays on how your child is coping academically while everything else is new.
Four-weekly progress summaries track your child against the goals agreed at the start. If progress stalls or the school raises a concern, we say so early and adjust the plan, the tutor or the goal itself. You should never have to ask how it is going.

How far ahead should we get in touch?
As soon as the move is likely. Three to six months gives time for school research and unhurried planning, but we also regularly arrange support for families already on the ground. A discovery call is complimentary, whenever you have it.
Can you help us choose a school?

Which curricula can you bridge between?
We regularly map transitions between UK, US, Australian, IB and Cambridge IGCSE programmes, and from the Indonesian national curriculum into international schools. What does relocation support cost?
Tutoring is billed at the standard rate card: Standard IDR 500,000 per hour for children, Advanced IDR 800,000 per hour for companies, and Master IDR 1,000,000 per hour for specialist teaching, with travel arrangements confirmed in writing. Can tutoring start before we arrive?
Online sessions can begin while you are still overseas, which is often the calmest way to start bridging the curriculum gap before the first day at the new school. Format detail sits on online tutoring.
What if my child needs classroom support after enrolment?
Where the school agrees, a shadow teacher can support one child inside the classroom during the school day. Home tutoring and shadow support can run together when the briefs are coordinated.
We are already in Bali and the gap is showing — too late?
Not too late. Mid-year relocators are a common brief. Send age, year group, school, curriculum and area on WhatsApp; we reply within one working day with an honest plan, or with a recommendation for student assessment if the picture is unclear.
