Coding & Programming Tutor in Bali

Private coding tutors in Bali for Python, JavaScript, Scratch, and web development. Primary, secondary, and adult learners. In-villa or online.

Who This Service Is For

We tutor students who want to learn coding, improve their programming skills, or prepare for computer science exams and projects. The students we work with usually fall into one of these groups:

  • Primary students (ages 7-11) who are starting their coding journey with Scratch, block-based programming, or simple Python.
  • Secondary students who are studying computer science at school and need support with programming, algorithms, or projects.
  • IB and IGCSE students who are taking computer science and need help with programming, the Internal Assessment, or exam preparation.
  • Students preparing for university who need to learn coding for computer science, engineering, data science, or related courses.
  • Adult learners who want to learn coding for career change, professional development, or personal projects.
  • Students with ADHD or autism who often excel at coding and need a tutor who understands their learning style.

Common Coding Tutoring Needs in Bali

  1. Scratch and block-based programming — for younger children learning logic, sequencing, loops, and conditionals through visual programming.
  2. Python — the most popular language for beginners and for IB/IGCSE computer science. We teach Python from basics to advanced topics.
  3. JavaScript — for web development, interactive websites, and GCSE/IGCSE projects. We teach front-end and basic back-end JavaScript.
  4. Web development — HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building websites. Popular for students who want to create their own projects.
  5. Game development — using Scratch, Python (Pygame), or JavaScript to create simple games. Highly motivating for young learners.
  6. Computer science theory — algorithms, data structures, logic, and computational thinking. Important for exam preparation.
  7. IB Computer Science IA — for IB students who need help designing, coding, and documenting their computer science Internal Assessment.
  8. Exam preparation — for IGCSE Computer Science, IB Computer Science, and A-Level Computer Science.

How It Works

Free assessment (optional): We start with a 45-60 minute assessment where the tutor meets your child, evaluates their current level, and identifies the specific topics or projects they want to work on. This is not a test. It is a conversation starter.

Weekly or project-based sessions: Most students have one or two sessions per week. Some students prefer intensive project-based blocks. We are flexible.

In your villa or online: We come to your villa in Canggu, Ubud, Sanur, Seminyak, or surrounding areas. We also offer online tutoring via Zoom with screen sharing and remote coding environments.

Tutor matching: We match your child with a tutor who has coding expertise in the language and level they need. Python tutors are different from web development tutors. We know the difference.

Progress tracking: After every session, the tutor sends a brief update: what was covered, what the student built or learned, and what the next session will focus on. Every four weeks, you receive a formal progress report.

Coding Languages and Topics We Cover

  • Scratch (ages 7-11): We teach block-based programming, logic, sequencing, loops, conditionals, and simple games. We make coding fun and creative.
  • Python (ages 10+): We teach Python from basics (variables, loops, functions) to advanced topics (classes, file handling, data structures). We use Python for game development, data analysis, and projects.
  • JavaScript (ages 12+): We teach JavaScript for web development, interactive websites, and simple apps. We cover HTML, CSS, and JavaScript together.
  • Web development: We teach HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building real websites. Students create their own projects: personal websites, blogs, portfolios, and simple web apps.
  • Computer science theory: We teach algorithms, data structures, logic, binary, and computational thinking. This is essential for exam preparation and for students who want to study computer science at university.
  • IB Computer Science: We cover both HL and SL, including the Internal Assessment, option topics, and exam preparation. We help with programming, documentation, and the project.
  • IGCSE Computer Science: We cover the 0478 syllabus, including programming, theory, and exam technique. We know the past papers and mark schemes.
  • A-Level Computer Science: We cover programming, theory, and the project for A-Level Computer Science (AQA, OCR, Edexcel).

What Makes Our Coding Tutoring Different

  • Project-based learning: We do not just teach syntax. We teach students to build real projects: games, websites, apps, and tools. Students learn by making things that work.
  • Real-world relevance: We connect coding to real-world applications: building a website for a Balinese business, analysing data about Bali's tourism, creating a game inspired by Balinese culture. Coding is meaningful when it has a purpose.
  • Creative approach: Coding is a creative skill. We encourage students to experiment, play, and explore. We celebrate mistakes as learning opportunities. We teach debugging as a problem-solving skill, not a failure.
  • Specialist tutors: Our coding tutors are not just IT teachers. They are programmers and developers with real-world experience. They know the languages inside out and can teach them effectively.
  • SEN-friendly: Coding is often a strength for children with ADHD or autism. Our tutors understand how to channel focus and energy into productive coding sessions. We use structured, predictable routines that suit neurodivergent learners.
  • Future-ready: Coding is a fundamental skill for the future. We teach students not just how to code, but how to think computationally, solve problems, and learn new technologies independently.

FAQ

Can my 7-year-old learn coding?

Yes. We teach Scratch to children as young as 7. Scratch uses visual blocks instead of text, so children can learn programming logic without needing to type complex code. We make it fun with games, animations, and creative projects.

Can you help with my computer science IA?

Yes. Our IB computer science tutors can help with every stage of the IA: choosing a project, designing the solution, coding, testing, and documenting. We do not write the code for the student — we guide them through the process.

Do I need my own computer?

Yes. Students need access to a computer (laptop or desktop) for coding sessions. For in-person tutoring, the student can use their own laptop or the tutor can bring one. For online tutoring, the student uses their own computer.

Can you teach web development?

Yes. We teach HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for building websites. Students create real projects: personal websites, blogs, portfolios, and simple web apps. We teach responsive design, basic SEO, and hosting.

Can you tutor online?

Yes. We offer online coding tutoring via Zoom with screen sharing and remote coding environments. This works well for coding because the tutor can see the student's screen and guide them in real time.
